Travel and Values

I've been on vacation, visiting the third time and yet I managed to surprise me, rediscover places and discover new ones. My conclusion is that when we do something connected with our values, with what makes sense to our lives everything is special and it is possible to look like the first time, with a beginner look. I love traveling and doing this with my family is always more special.

For me, traveling is much more than the stay period in the chosen destination. It is the previous time of preparation, planning, choices, scripts, bags, expectation of what you will find. This has filled our lives a long time before. Many reflections on what we would like to review and why it would make sense right now. How to use our time in the best way connected with the things we would like to do. What kind of experiences each would have to have, whether in gastronomy or what the place would offer as an opportunity. We have done many connection exercises with our values and our behavioral flexibility, as we travel in groups and as such also requires some challenges in this regard.

According to ACT values are defined as chosen, desired and global life directions that are verbally built. In each chosen act we seek a direction and engage in the act of attributing value to things every time we do something important or intentionally. The values must be chosen freely, without judgments as the meaning of life is individual and non -transferable. Values are the heart of human meaning and purpose, usually they guide and define our lives.

and why are values so important? Because they provide a constructive, consistent direction, promote behavioral flexibility and motivation.

And so it was. We visited known places and had the opportunity to look with our eyes current, how much discovery !!! We happily taste the food we wanted to remember and still had the opportunity to try new, we know other places that delighted us and we had unusual experiences.

What about the return? I realize that when I move away from a well -known, safe, comfortable place, I allow myself to see what really is important in this place and what I want to return, what I miss and miss you. Listening today to Lenine's “Patience” music, in a mindfulness activity, I fixed myself in the phrase “Life doesn't stop, life is so rare”… Yes, I want to live this rarity intensely. Not only when I'm traveling, but every day, one day at a time. Feeling the smells, flavors, textures of each action and reaction. Being 55 years old gives me these conscious choices. It's great to travel and it is also great to come back.

and my question on the way back is as follows. What keeps us from living a life as if we were traveling all the time for it? With this curious look, happy to repeat the same tastes and venture into new experiences without judgment, fears or fear of becoming vulnerable? Connecting us with what really matters and gives meaning to our existence? Because we need to go to another country, state, city to remember and do this exercise of choice that leads us toward what is important to us?

I came back with my reinforced intention to live more and more the present moment with all the whole I felt and experienced this vacation in NYC!
