After all, who is the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist?

In August, on the 27th, we celebrate the day psychologists and psychologists. A

cognitive-behavioral therapy ( CBT) is one of the different lines of action in

psychotherapy in Psychology. CBT has the characteristic of being semi-structured and objective,

and for these specifics we can often realize that some professionals

understand the cognitive therapist as being overly technical. The fact is that

TCC has a wide arsenal of psychotherapeutic techniques and strategies to ensure

effectiveness of the treatment, however , it is necessary to understand that the techniques are

appropriate for each patient, and not the other way around. In this way, a good cognitive therapist

goes in search of improvement of techniques and skills, while

observe the therapeutic relationship and more subtle and subjective issues related to setting

therapeutic.

Therefore, the CBT therapist it is generally more directive and specific in its

interventions, but that doesn't means having a “robotic” behavior, at

otherwise, in TCC if highly values the therapist's creativity and ability to

troubleshooting and adaptation to the needs of each patient. Thus,

cognitive therapist is active, discusses and contributes so much to patient engagement

as for the search for solutions. The goal is actually to address cognitive and

problematic behaviors and assist the patient looking for solutions and new

coping strategies, overcoming avoidance and developing more

consistent with what patient is seeking. In other words, the therapist
