The dialectical challenge in work teams
The need for people who make up a team to feel recognized in their tasks and attributes, in a dialectic that, while being validated for what they already know, can still improve and develop in new skills.
When we come across people or highly demanding teams, one can fall into the trap of interpreting their demands as insufficient and unintentionally, which can affect confidence and even people's engagement in projects.
We all want to be recognized, we want the reinforcing result of expressions such as “worked”, “we are on the way”, “we get”!
In theoretical terms, we can rescue the importance of reinforcing every small step, as this feeds self -efficacy, a predictor of successful treatments, and why not successful teams.
How is this dialectic between validation (“we are enough”) and change (“do we want to be even better”) in your work team?
The following video was inspired by personal experiences of participation in work teams and proposes a reflection on how to handle the wishes of the versus the desire for leadership and the institution.
