11/10 - National Obesity Prevention Day

We are living in a period of many demands. The demands of work are high, not unlike the expectations we have for achieving a comfortable, happy life, in which we can consume - part - of the many offerings that society presents. Smartphones, very high-resolution televisions, a variety of clothes, not least, fast and extremely appetizing foods. In the midst of all this, we are forgetting to look at ourselves, and obesity is a disease that has been growing quietly but not rambling. The rates show that the Brazilian population is becoming obese - currently almost half of Brazilians are overweight. Obesity is a complex disorder involving biological, emotional and behavioral aspects. The health risks and stigma that comes with being overweight weigh on the lives of those in this state. With this, there is also much suffering, struggle and isolation. Although the battle against the balance seems to be endless, therapeutic approaches are seeking effectiveness in addressing these obesity issues.

Today, on National Obesity Prevention Day allow yourself to reflect a little on how you are doing. relationship to food and how you wish it were. CEFI, in partnership with Contexto Saúde, offers food balance groups, coordinated by psychologists and nutritionists. Based on Contextual Behavior Therapies and Behavioral Nutrition, groups develop sustained work on some treatment pillars: food autonomy; conscious eating; building strategies to deal with eating impulses and self-pity. We believe that taking care of our body and our health is, in the first instance, a self-care gesture that deserves to be heard and encouraged. The pursuit of health and the construction of a valuable life is the right of all, so do not hesitate to seek support to achieve your goals.
