Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a proven effective approach to strengthening emotional connections with yourself and others. Through understanding and using emotions, this model makes it possible to promote lasting changes in meaningful bonds and personal well-being.
Developed in the 1980s by Dr. Sue Johnson in Canada, EFT is based on the premise that secure emotional bonds are essential for human development at all stages of the life cycle. When these bonds are strong and secure, we feel more confident, connected and resilient.
EFT promotes corrective emotional experiences and creates interaction patterns that strengthen attachment bonds and emotional regulation, generating a direct impact on the emotional health of couple members. This occurs by deactivating the couple's negative cycle, which blocks the connection and security of the bond and can generate increasing conflicts.
