Do you feel that your clinical practice and theoretical knowledge in the psychoanalytic approach could reach more depth? The Specialization in Psychoanalytically Oriented Psychotherapy at CEFI/FACEFI is an invitation to expand your listening to the unconscious, improve your therapeutic interventions and strengthen your role as a psychotherapist for adult patients. This course seeks to train qualified professionals to work in the psychoanalytic clinic and in other spaces that aim to listen to the unconscious.
The desire to understand behavior and the human mind has motivated investigations and studies since human beings organized themselves into society. As a theory, psychoanalysis presents itself as a possibility of thinking about the subject and its constitution in singularity, based on listening to the unconscious. Although centuries old and with the backdrop of Viennese society at the end of the 19th century, the concepts created by Sigmund Freud are still contemporary, being thought of today from different social, cultural and economic perspectives.
Having remained alive over so many decades and with countless authors producing based on the Freudian legacy, it is to be assumed that psychoanalysis needed to listen to the social transformations of generations and adapt to the demands of its time. A psychoanalysis that at the time of its foundation was based on a strong transmission between peers, however short-range, today finds itself inserted in a globalized and connected world, circulating in the media and social networks in a plural form. This notable advance allows the symptom to be understood increasingly as a social construction, influenced by contemporary times.
To listen to this symptom and its impacts on the subject's life, the professional who accepts the suffering of those who seek him needs to use the psychoanalytic tripod to ethically sustain his practice: personal analysis, study of theory through seminars and individual supervision of the cases treated. It was and will be this tripod that will support the professional's listening and provide theoretical and clinical support to understand and intervene in contemporary manifestations of psychological suffering.
It is in this globalized and plural scenario, while being attentive to the psychoanalytic tradition, that the Specialization in Psychoanalytically Oriented Psychotherapy offered by CEFI is inserted. A specialization recognized by the MEC, which sets it apart from other courses offered in the city. Based on the aforementioned psychoanalytic tripod and structured in the format of semi-annual seminars, this course seeks to train qualified professionals to work in the psychoanalytic clinic and in other spaces that aim to listen to the unconscious.
General Objective:
To enable professionals to carry out psychotherapy with adult patients, guided by psychoanalytic theory from its creation to the present.
Specific Objectives:
Improve listening to the unconscious, through theoretical study both during seminars and in individual supervision of the cases attended.
Consolidate and deepen the professional's knowledge of the history of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic theories and techniques to better conduct psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy processes with adult patients
Expand the professional's clinical repertoire by considering the contemporary context, aiming for a better understanding and intervention in the face of current manifestations of psychological distress.
Classes will be taught by highly qualified teachers, with extensive clinical and research experience (teaching staff primarily composed of masters and doctors). Learning will take place through theoretical seminars, individual clinical supervision and the writing of a case study to be presented at the end of the course.
In-person course with classes on weekends, fortnightly and lasting 2 years, which meets the demand of an audience that works during the week and is looking for an in-depth course in a leaner time.
It is organized taking into account the psychoanalytic tripod, that is, theoretical seminars are planned (on Saturdays), individual clinical supervision and the recommendation that students carry out their personal analyses/psychotherapies. It is worth mentioning that the monthly fee already includes the amounts for 15 supervisions per semester.
Most importantly, the course is recognized by the MEC at no additional cost to the student.
