The Impact of Sexual Health on General Health (and vice versa)

By Profª Drª Carmita H. N. Abdo

Studies from the past few decades have made evident the correlation between sexual health and general health, whether the latter physical or mental.

Undoubtedly, the balance of hormones and neurotransmitters is of great importance for the circulation and the proper functioning of the brain and other organs, and it is unquestionable that vessels and healthy organs favor sexual performance and satisfaction. For this, the endocrinological, neurological and psychosocial systems must be preserved.

Add to this evidence the need for emotional and mental stability to develop and maintain intimacy with someone, to the point of achieving a rewarding exchange relationship. < / span>

If health improves sex, sex is also good for health, by releasing substances that exacerbate the feeling of well-being and disposition, relax and relieve voltage. In addition, sexual activity stimulates circulation, oxygenating all tissues, especially the brain. And, yet, it activates the reward system, prolonging this feeling of comfort, which generates a desire to repeat the act.
