3 myths about the use of psychiatric drugs in the elderly

The rational use of medicines, that is, a coherent, conscious and adequate prescription, should be encouraged, especially in the elderly population. It is known that the indication of a drug in the elderly may be necessary to improve symptoms and quality of life, in addition to decreasing the prevalence and risk both in relation to mental disorders and clinical diseases such as arterial hypertension, heart disease and diabetes.
