The purpose of this workshop will be to train participants in the implementation of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a treatment with evidence of effectiveness for various clinical conditions. The theory behind the ACT will be presented, as well as data on its effectiveness. Participants will be invited to undertake various didactic, experiential and practical activities that will help them learn how to implement ACT. In addition to the didactic information, the ACT application will be presented through attendance videos and role-play examples. Throughout the training, participants will work on conceptualizing cases and exploring common barriers and difficulties to ACT practice.
Strategies / Methods (exhibition, videos, worksheet practices, PowerPoint):
This workshop will include theoretical exposition, Powerpoint slides, videos (DVD), role-playing activities, written exercises and discussion.
Robyn D. Walser, Ph.D. is Director of TL Consultation Services, Assistant Professor at
University of California, Berkeley, and works at the National Center for PTSD. As a Psychologist, she
works in international training, consultancy and clinical practice. Dr. Walser is a
specialist in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and is a co-author of 6 books on the approach, including one of the most widespread guides to the
learning from this therapy (Learning ACT). His most recent book is entitled The Heart of
ACT (The Heart of ACT), released in late 2019. Walser has expertise in treating
post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and substance abuse, and is the author of
several articles, chapters and books on these topics. She has been running ACT workshops since 1998; conducting training in different formats and aimed at different types of customer problems. She has been described as a “creative, passionate and courageous ACT trainer and therapist” and especially recognized for her dynamic, warm and challenging training. She is usually known as a therapist therapist. Its
workshops bring a combination of theoretical exhibitions and experiential exercises that
